Team labs

Team training

Assign labs to your team, see who has finished them, and export the progress.

Team training lets the owner and the admins of a team give people labs to do, and see at a glance who has finished what. It works with the catalog labs and with the labs your team uploaded. It is on the Labs site, under Training in the account menu, and it needs the team's plan to be active.

What owners and admins see

The training page has a table with one row for each person on the team and one column for each lab that is assigned. Each cell says where that person is:

Status Meaning
Completed They finished the lab. The date is shown. A finish of any version of the lab counts.
In progress They have the lab running right now.
Overdue The due date has passed and they have not finished.
Not started They have not begun, and the due date has not passed.
Not assigned The lab was assigned to one other person.

Each column shows the lab's due date and how many of the people it was assigned to have finished it. A person who has never opened Labs is listed as "has not opened Labs yet", and can still be given a lab. They see it when they first sign in.

Assigning a lab

  1. Choose a lab. The list has the catalog labs and your team's own labs.
  2. Choose everyone on the team, or one person.
  3. Optionally set a due date, which cannot be in the past, and a short note of up to 300 characters, such as why the lab matters.
  4. Choose Assign.

The same lab cannot be assigned twice to the same people while the first assignment is still open. Cancel an assignment with Cancel on its column. People who already finished the lab keep their completion.

Everyone the lab is assigned to gets an email straight away. They get one reminder email when the due date is three days away or has passed, and it is sent once for each assignment. Nobody is emailed about a lab they have finished or about an assignment that was canceled.

Exporting the progress

Download CSV gives one row for each person and each open assignment, with these columns: user name, name, role, lab title, lab address, assigned on, due on, status, completed at and minutes spent (from starting the lab to finishing it, when known). Open it in a spreadsheet or send it to your own tracker. Only your own team is ever included.

To get each finished lab as it happens instead, set up a team webhook.

What members see

Anyone on the team sees Assigned to you on the Team labs page, with each lab, its due date, whether it is overdue and a link to start or open it. The Labs home page shows a short reminder while they have labs left to do. Members never see other people's progress.
